How to enhance the experience for SIM card automation setting and its monitoring data traffic and connectivity in DCP for the developers at IoT enterprises?
01 Building understanding of context and users & Redefine persona and user journey
At the start of the project, there was onboarding with all internal materials, and interviewing with development teams and stakeholders to find opportunities. First, novice users want to get help understanding complex terminologies and setting up automated triggers successfully. Because mistake in setting leads to enormous loss of cost. On the other hand, expert users want a simple and efficient way to set up automated triggers. However, as a developer, novice users and expert users wish to get acknowledged by colleagues for their contributions at the workplace.
02 Defining design direction and creating concept designs
Care is defined as a UX goal according to research data and the framework. Caring is a means to 1) Support onboarding novice users to successfully set up automated triggers guided by the chatbot. 2) Simplify the automation trigger setting process and its interface for expert users by utilizing the building box of the 'If... then...' condition. 3) Increase the visibility of contributions for novice and expert users to satisfy their needs of getting acknowledged by colleagues.
03 User testings
To validate our designs, we used MAX for usability test with +10 people including a person working at service desk for DCP and internal development team. After testing, we made handover documentation, reports, and had presentation to development team.
Solutions
For novice user, chatbot-powered interaction guides and helps users throughout the steps to reach their task. It provide smooth learning experience in empathic manner. For expert users, cube structure interface streamlines the process of trigger management in more user friendly and efficient way. Last concept enhances the feedback loop between developer and other users in the teams. It brings more visibility of appreciation and give encouragement.
